Prior to opening her own lab, Wendy focused on uncovering the molecular mechanisms of Notch activation and in doing so uncovered that this process is regulated by a novel allosteric mechanism mediated by mechanical forces. This discovery is the foundation for this research area in lab where we are interested in further characterizing how mechanical forces in the context of receptor proteolysis drive downstream signaling events and how these events change throughout development, differentiation, and in disease.
